In this article I will write a tutorial how to restore data using Norton Ghost. As we know that Norton Ghost is a utility to backup and restore data to hard disk drives or other media. This time we'll do restores on the hard disk partition.
- To run Norton Ghost, we can not through the operating system will be restored. Therefore, we will use the Live CD (I use miniPE). If your computer does not have a CD Rom, you can instead use a Bootable Flash. Do not forget to include Norton Ghost software, in the Live CD or Bootable Flash that you prepared.
- The function of Norton Ghost is restore your hard disk from the backup file from Norton Ghost itself. So we must know the location where we would keep our ghost image. If you do not have you may have to make it from another computer clean, either from virus or from files that are not in use. read this to do.
- If the above purposes is ready, setting the boot option in BIOS, make the first boot the CD Rom if you use the Live CD, if not, adjust the device you use. Then boot using the Live CD and run the Norton Ghost you had. Select Local>> Partition>> From Image.
- Determine the location where you save the image we have created earlier. Search for files that have the extension "GHO" (in the example: "IMAGE.GHO").
- Determine the hard disk and partition that we will restore.
- Confirm, then the restore is performed. Wait until finished and restart your computer. Do not forget to return the boot settings to the original settings.
