The presence of the increasingly popular Internet makes software companies Intel issued a new technology the Intel Atom processor. Intel Atom is claimed as the low-energy processors designed for Mobile Internet Devices (MIDS) and a new class of affordable computer for internet that will be coming soon this year.

This new segment represents an opportunity to grow the overall market for Intel silicon using the Intel Atom processor as the foundation. In addition Intel will also issue processor technology Intel Centrino Atom for MID platform which consists of several chips which will provide the best internet experience in pocket-sized device.

Intel Atom processor is based microarchitecture designed specifically for small devices and low-energy by maintaining the Intel Core 2 Duo instruction set compatibility. This design also includes support for several theads for better performance and increased system responsiveness. All this is only the chip size is less than 25mm square which makes it as Intel's smallest processor with the lowest consumption .So that the processor is claimed as smallest processor in the world's.

Actually, that area could only accommodate 11 Intel Atom processor die, which is a small piece of silicon that consists of 47 million transistors. At first, these chips code-named Silverthorne and Diamondville, which will be made using 45nm process technology with hi-k metal gate, which has a thermal design power (TDP) in the range of 0.6 - 2.5 watts and scale up to 1.8 GHz according to customer needs.
