Device manufacturers can use the new Device Stage feature in Windows 7 to show their customers the applications and services that are specific to their device. The Device Stage interface is an extension of the Devices and Printers interface and provides a new way for users to interact with their mobile phones, cameras, printers, and portable media players.
If your device supports personal information such as contacts and calendars, you can enable the sync capability in Device Stage. This capability allows customers to sync their mobile phones, music players, and other mobile devices with a computer that is running Windows 7. If you want your customers to be able to sync their personal information from a program on your device, you must design a sync plug-in for that program.
If you create a Windows 7 sync plug-in, you can ask Microsoft to list your plug-in on the Device Stage Referral page. This enables people who use Windows 7 to easily find the plug-in from within the Device Stage interface.

Google brought translation features to many of our products in 2009, including Google Docs and Gmail and we're happy to add one more before the New Year. To make it easier for people around the globe to read the site you created with Google Sites, we've integrated with the Google Translate Element. Now, whenever someone visits a Google Site in another language, they will be given the option to translate the content into the language of their choice. All they have to do is click on the translate link at the bottom right-hand side of the page. Now, the content on your site can be translated into 51 languages, allowing you to reach a whole new audience. Check out this before and after for a Korean school's website below (or try it out for yourself).
As leaders from around the world meet in Copenhagen to address global climate change this month, we thought it was a good time to reflect on our own carbon footprint. In 2007, we committed to become a carbon neutral company. We know that it isn't possible to write a check and eliminate the environmental impact of our operations. So what does “carbon neutrality” mean to us?
First, we aggressively pursue reductions in our energy consumption through energy efficiency, innovative infrastructure design and operations and on-site renewable energy. Our Google designed data centers use half the energy of typical facilities. We're also working to accelerate the development of economic, clean renewable energy at scale through research and development, investment and policy outreach. At this time, however, such efforts don't cover our entire carbon footprint. Therefore, since 2007 we've gone a step further and made a voluntary commitment to buy carbon offsets to cover the portion of our footprint that we cannot yet eliminate — which is what we mean by "carbon neutrality."
So what exactly is a carbon offset? The idea behind an offset is that we pay someone to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in a specific, measurable way, thus offseting an equal climate impact on our side. To determine our impact, we calculate our annual carbon footprint, which is then verified by an independent third party. We include direct energy consumption (like natural gas) and electricity use, employee commuting, company vehicle use, business travel and estimates of carbon emissions from building construction and from the manufacturing of servers used in our datacenters. We then buy an equivalent number of carbon offsets.
While carbon offsets seem simple in principle, in practice they are surprisingly complicated. In particular, it's often difficult to say whether or not the offset project results in emissions reductions that would have happened anyway. We find ourselves asking whether the project in fact goes beyond "business as usual." In the world of offsets, this concept is referred to as "additionality." Carbon offsets have a mixed reputation because some projects are not additional. Here at Google, we have set a very high bar to ensure that our investment makes an actual difference in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by purchasing offsets that are real, verifiable, permanent and additional.
To date, we have selected high quality carbon offsets from around the world that reduce greenhouse gas emissions — ranging from landfill gas projects in Caldwell County, NC, and Steuben County, NY, to animal-waste management systems in Mexico and Brazil. Our funding helps make it possible for equipment to be installed that captures and destroys the methane gas produced as the waste decomposes. Methane, the primary component in natural gas, is a significant contributor to global warming. We chose to focus on landfill and agricultural methane reduction projects because methane's impact on warming is very well understood, it's easy to measure how much methane is captured and the capture wouldn't happen without our financing (for the projects we're investing in, they couldn't make enough money selling the gas).
We need fundamental changes to global energy and transportation infrastructure to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions over the long term. In the meantime, the projects to which we contribute offer measurable emissions reductions and allow us to take responsibility for our carbon footprint. To that end, we're always looking for good emissions-reduction projects to support. If you have a landfill gas or agricultural methane carbon offset project you think we should consider, please visit this page for more information about how to participate in our latest carbon-offset procurement round.
This morning, we launched updated versions of the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner that offer a new URL shortening service from Google called the Google URL Shortener. We mentioned our URL shortener as a feature in both announcements, so we wanted to say a little more about how this product works and why we're offering it.
People share a lot of links online. This is particularly true as microblogging services such as Twitter have grown in popularity. If you're not familiar with them, URL shorteners basically squeeze a long URL into fewer characters to make it easier to share with others. With character limits in tweets, status updates and other modes of short form publishing, a shorter URL leaves more room to say what's on your mind — and that's why people use them.
First, we think people who use the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner will benefit from a shortener that is easily accessible — making it faster and easier to share, post and email links. Second, we've built this on Google's global infrastructure to offer the following benefits:
Stability: Google's scalable, multi-datacenter infrastructure provides great uptime and a reliable service to our users.
Security: As we do with web search, shortened URLs are automatically checked to detect sites that may be malicious and warn users when the short URL resolves to such sites.
Speed: At Google we like fast products and we've worked hard to ensure this service is quick. We'll continue to iterate and improve the speed of Google Url Shortener.
Google URL shortener is not a stand-alone service; you can't use it to shorten links directly. Currently, Google URL Shortener is only available from the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner. If the service proves useful, we may eventually make it available for a wider audience in the future.
We're excited about enabling this functionality — try it for Toolbar and FeedBurner!

A new Swedish company offers new 4G mobile broadband services to the consumers. This service is called the "killer user experience". TeliaSonera AB will debut run this service for several months ahead, starting from Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway, to the entire state at the end of the year. While in this technology luncurkanya no single device that is compatible for this technology, especially the handset so that this service will temporarily be enjoyed by using a dedicated laptop with a USB dongle that produced by Samsung.
4G broadband theoretically can reach speeds of 100 megabits per second. or in other words 12.5 MBps, which this time was comparable to fixed-line broadband is currently around the world.
With this 4G technology will be a lot of changes that can be enjoyed by users compared to 3G technology, but only increased the download speed. Like moving from 2G to 3G, a lot of new telecommunications features that began life as video streaming capabilities and even pull through even video messaging. While the change from 3G to 4G, of course, theoretically, will allow us to get the video resolution is better, and of course that becomes the bottle neck is the future of our handset screen display. If using a laptop of course is another story.
Features that will be felt by using the 4G such as videoconferencing capabilities to several participants and increasing the quality of online gaming. The problem in the 4G market is how the customer can enjoy all the speed limit if they are in use by the monthly data. But if not restricted, then the user will surely push the network capacity reaching its limit. At the beginning of this 4G, 4G is said that the dongle will not support 3G signal reception, this means that if we use the 4G is to support our 3G dongle requires 2 pieces, and this of course is not practical. Dual-format reportedly dongle will not be available until mid-2010.
When bidding is done, customers are given free modem for the first 6 months of trial together with the price of 4 kroner (or 56 U.S. cents) per month. in July, the price will change to the standard 500 kroner price ($ 70) per month.
There are times when the computer turns out to be very slow due to space drive (C: or windows system) is almost gone. It was certainly a very slow computers, when we've tried to reduce the various applications / software in it, and still less, one alternative to resize this partition.
Here are tips and techniques that can be done to change the partition drive C: using Easeus Partition Manager (Free).
For the less confident and are still in doubt, should bring more people to know when the reply will change the windows partition system, to avoid the things that are not desired.
Previously, I have practiced resize windows XP partition (drive C:) good on the laptop and desktop computers (usually) this way. Praise them and succeeded without any problems. To consider when changing the partitions on my laptop, make sure the laptop battery enough, do not let the process take place, a sudden Low Battery.
In this paper, I consider the windows partition you want to change the system is C: (drive containing the windows). There is one thing that must be considered before changing the size of drive C: (system), namely:
There should be a partition that has enough empty space on the drive under C: drive, usually drive D: (on display there beside Easeus). If that has a blank space is drive E: or F:, then you should first change to D: drive has enough free space.
Then, there are a few things to note before changing the partition size, such as:
Close all other applications
Defragment the drive to be partitioned, ie C: and D:. If the windows right-click an innate drive that you want, click Properties> Tools> Defragmentation, click Defragment Now ...
If you need to do checks your hard drive. Right-click the drive C: or D: select Properties> Tools> Error-checking> Check Now ... Choose 2 of the available options and click Start to continue
Leave free space around 10% in hard drive will be reduced.
If the number of files on drive D: so many, should be moved to another drive first, or zip and made a file. Because the files are many, will make a slower file transfer
If possible, backup your important data
After these things above are done and have confirmed that the drive is still good condition, so then we can do process of change the partition drive C: here
Rather than seeing Google's Chrome operating system as competing with Linux desktop distributions, Canonical is working with Google to make the OS.
Some people may see Google's Chrome operating system as competing with existing Linux desktop distributions. Canonical, the company behind popular Linux distribution Ubuntu, isn't one of them. They're working with Google to make Chrome.
Sources at Canonical tell me that Canonical's Ubuntu developers have been working with Google's Chrome team since before Google announced its netbook operating system plan in July 2009. The company decided to go public with its involvement after Google announced today that they were open-sourcing the Chrome operating system.
In a Canonical blog posting, Chris Kenyon, Canonical's VP of OEM Services, revealed that "Canonical is contributing engineering to Google under contract." Canonical insiders were not at liberty to say how many developers were working on Chrome, but they did say it was a major project.
This does not mean that Canonical is focusing on Chrome OS in place of Ubuntu. Kenyon wrote: "On the consumer side, people will ask about the positioning of Chrome OS and Ubuntu. While the two operating systems share some core components, Google Chrome OS will provide a very different experience to Ubuntu. Ubuntu will continue to be a general purpose OS running both web and native applications such as OpenOffice and will not require specialized hardware."
When reading between the lines, it's clear that Canonical and Google are very closely partnered on creating Chrome. Any open-source developer, however, can now access the code and documentation at the newly opened Chromium OS site.
Kenyon also said, "Sundar Pichar [Google VP of Product Management] and Linus Upson [a Google engineering director] made it clear that they want, wherever feasible, to build on existing components and tools from the open source community without unnecessary re-invention. This clear focus should benefit a wide variety of existing projects and we welcome it."
Kenyon concluded, "So 2010 looks set to be a very exciting year. In addition to delivering Ubuntu experiences with both existing and new OEM partners, we will be working with Google on Chrome OS based devices."
Indeed, it should be. Canonical, the company behind the most popular desktop Linux, is working hand-in-glove with Google to create the Chrome netbook operating system.
The following process using FREE EASEUS Partition Program Master, either Home Edition or Professional which can be obtained for free at http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm. The steps as follows:
Run program Easeus Partition Master
Right-click D: drive (the drive besides the C: drive), then select Resize / Move
Drag the mouse over the empty space (gray) of space to be provided on drive C: will (Leave free space of at least about 10%)
Next will appear a blank space next to drive D: (with writing Unallocated) as follows
Click the drive D: and hold, then slide to the right, so that the empty space to be located on the left (besides drive C), as follows:
Next, right-click drive C: and select Resize / Move, enlarge the size of drive C (slide with the mouse to the right), until the maximum of the available space. Next Unallocated not look anymore, because it is coupled with drive C
Make sure all the steps above are correct. Finally click the Apply icon with the words from the menu
After a while, usually need to restart your computer to continue the process of moving data and changing the partition size. Wait until finished
Data transfer process will be done after the restart and before entering windows. Long time depending on a large space sebesara changed and the number of data are transferred, particularly in drive D:
"Use Google to Make 1000s of Dollars!" or "Easy Cash with Google: You Could be Making up to $978 a Day Working from Home!" You may have seen offers like these using Google's name or logo that sounded too good to be true. Unfortunately, nearly all of them are, and, despite hundreds of consumer complaints and our own efforts to keep these sites from tricking people, some scams continue. To fight back, we're working to stop various fraudulent "Google Money" schemes, and this week filed suit against Pacific WebWorks and several other unnamed defendants.
Google hasn't created or endorsed any of the sites like those described in our complaint. Misleading ads try to take advantage of consumers in the midst of a difficult economy, and as the economic situation has worsened, the problem has only grown. As far as we can tell, thousands of people have been tricked into sending payment information and being charged hidden fees by questionable operations.
Even as we're taking legal action to try to cut these sites off at the source, we're still working constantly to remove scammy URLs from our index, and we'll permanently disable AdWords accounts that provide a poor or harmful user experience, whether or not they use Google's trademarks illegally. That said, we can't guarantee that schemes like these won't pop up, like the proverbial "Whack-A-Mole", someplace else online — either on a different network or under a different name.
We can solve only part of the problem — the rest is up to you. Just as you should be careful about giving out financial information in the real world, you should be skeptical and review any offers online before sending any information, and always be on guard when presented with an offer that seems too good to be true. Below is a significantly abridged list of some names that we know are suspect. For more tips on how to spot a scam online or what to do if you think you or someone you know has been tricked, check out this earlier post.
Although there's no secret kit that can guarantee riches, many people really do make money online. In our experience, the best way to build a business on the web is to really serve users — offer useful products and services or write about something you have a passionate interest in. There are many ways to lose information from a computer: A child playing the keyboard like a piano, a power surge, lightning, floods, and sometimes equipment just fails. If you regularly make backup copies of your files and keep them in a separate place, you can get some, if not all, of your information back if something happens to the originals on your computer. So try to follow the following tips and tricks.
What to back up
Back up anything you cannot replace easily. Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Bank records and other financial information
Digital photographs
Software you purchased and downloaded from the Internet
Music you purchased and downloaded from the Internet
Personal projects
Your e-mail address book
Your Microsoft Outlook calendar
Your Internet Explorer bookmarks
Next, decide where to store your backup copies-external hard disk drive, CDs, DVDs, or some other external storage format in a different location from your computer.
Where to back up your files
The following are some storage devices and locations to consider.
External hard drive
CD
DVD
USB flash drive
Online backup and storage service
How to back up your files
When you make backup copies of your information, a simple copy and paste works well. If you use Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP, a backup tool is available.
Windows 7: Backup and Restore
Windows 7 helps you configure backup settings in three quick clicks. You can choose to automatically back up all your personal files and, if you choose, your system files. You can schedule regular backups, so you won't have to remember to do it manually. You can back up everything or just specific files, and you can choose from a number of advanced backup options, such as backing up files to a network location and performing system backups to a DVD. To access Backup and Restore:
Click Start, and click Control Panel.
Click System and Security and then click Backup and Restore.
For a more detailed step-by-step guide to using the wizard, see Back up your files.
Windows Vista: Backup and Restore Center
Depending on the version of Windows Vista you have, there are two ways to back up files: Automatic Backup, which backs up just your files and data; or Complete PC Backup, which backs up everything on your computer, including the operating system and applications. You can choose the method in the Backup and Restore Center. To access the Backup and Restore Center:
Click Start, and point to Control Panel.
Click System and Maintenance and then click Back up your computer.
Windows XP Professional: Use the built-in Backup utility
If you use Windows XP Professional, you can use the built-in Backup utility to help you make copies of files, settings, or everything on your computer.
You can schedule the utility to back up certain files on a regular basis. To start using the Backup utility:
Click Start, and point to All Programs.
Point to Accessories, and then point to System Tools.
Click Backup.
If you've never used the Backup utility, the first screen you will see is the Backup or Restore Wizard welcome window.
Click Next and follow the instructions on the wizard. For a more detailed step-by-step guide to using the wizard, see Windows XP Backup Made Easy.
Windows XP Home Edition: Add the Backup utility
If you're using Windows XP Home Edition and you want to install the Backup utility, first locate your original Windows XP CD.
Add the Backup utility manually to your computer from the CD by following these steps:
Insert your Windows XP CD into the drive and, if necessary, in My Computer, double-click the CD icon to display the Welcome screen.
On the Welcome to Microsoft Windows XP screen, click Perform Additional Tasks.
Click Browse this CD.
In Windows Explorer, double-click the ValueAdd folder, then Msft, and then Ntbackup.
Double-click Ntbackup.msi to install the Backup utility.
Making backup copies manually
Regardless of what version of Windows you use, you can manually make a backup copy of any file or folder by following these steps:
Right-click the file or folder that you want to back up, and then click Copy from the menu.
In Computer, right-click the disk or external hard drive where you want to store the backup copy, and then click Paste on the menu.
After you've copied all the information you want to back up onto your chosen storage format, don't forget to keep it protected.
Backing up is just the first step. Here are a few suggestions to help you protect important files and information after you back them up:
Remove your information from your house-or office. Keep your backups away from your computer-in a separate room, in a fireproof box. If you use a safe deposit box to protect valuable paper documents, keep your backup disks there, too.
Make more than one copy. Keep the backups in two separate locations, so if disaster strikes one area, you still have your secondary backup.
Keep your storage tidy. From time to time (and particularly if you are paying for storage), delete old files or use compression software to compress information so it takes up less space.
Protect your information with a password. Some media formats include password protection. Consider this feature if you back up personal or sensitive information.
Hint: Write down your password and keep it in a secure location, such as a safe deposit box, along with your will and other personal documents. This allows your loved ones to get your personal information if you can't.
Next processor generatios from Intel is Intel Core i9 will be present but perhaps later in the year 2010, the processor using 32-nanometer technology has been tested by PCLab and has been through several benchmark tests. When present in his pre-release at 2.8 GHz chip Gulftown, PCLab found found a significant speed and the speed is very good at bebereapa applications. According to them, this new processor is very good and fast in response to several intensive tasks like video editing or 3D modeling, kemampuanya expected to rise 50% faster than the Intel Core i7.
Unfortunately that will probably cause a delay of this processor, because the chip is not able to increase capacity in all test areas, some are still in the winning performance Core i7 processor in some common applications. But if it falls on the use of resource capacity i9 Core CPU uses less power and uses a simpler cooler than the old chips.
I have compiled a list of 10 vital things - from choosing an expert to instructing your web developer - that every marketer needs to consider when undertaking search engine optimization as part of their marketing mix.
1. Strategy First
Please, don't ask for a full SEO proposal from an agency until you have set your strategy. Too often, agencies will respond with a full proposal, including lots of articles to be created, sites to be built and links to be implemented without a clear strategy.
[Get 1,000 Visitors for $9.99!]
Some sites are more straight forward but others are complex and would benefit from asking a couple of agencies to get involved at the research stage - ask them about the strengths and weaknesses of your site, what they think of your competitors, and what strategic approach they would take with your site.
To get the best advice from this process, expect to pay the agencies involved. A small percentage of your online budget spent on good strategy will save you dollars in the long term. Even better, pay two agencies for a strategy recommendatíon and then choose the best one for your business!
2. Choosing a Consultant
You need to work with someone who can communicate about SEO in plain English, someone who can take complicated ideas and techniques and turn them into something you can understand, then make a decision on - especially as there are often many possible solutions to choose from.
Someone with experience in your vertical - such as travel, finance, retail - as well as several other verticals is important. An SEO consultant with experience across multiple types of business, as well as experience that is directly relevant to you will have better problem solving skills and more exposure to technologies. Experience in your sector will mean the consultant will be very helpful in defining your strategy, understanding terminology, and knowing what your competitors are doing.
3. Expectations
What are realistic expectations from your investment in SEO?
Too often, we see marketers defining their keyword set or crazy goals for their site without any basis in how SEO really works. If you are a law firm, for example, and you want to rank highly for terms such as "lawyer", or "barrister", then you have to take into account that these are extremely popular and competitive terms. It might not be achievable, and even if it is, it's probably a very hard road to get there.
[Rapid Paid Inclusion - Add Your URL in 48 Hours!]
Be open to advice when setting the goals for your website (which should be a part of the keyword research period of your SEO project). If you have a PPC campaign running first, you can use the keyword data from that campaign to gain an understanding of what is important for your website.
4. Using the Right Language
Optimizing begins with keyword research that helps you understand the language your customers are using to find your products and services.
Be realistic. It may sound obvious but, if the words your customers are using to search are not on your website pages, then you won't be found in the search engines for those words.
Similarly, brand words and buzz words are all very nice in marketing, but if people aren't using those words to search, then again you won't be found.
Be ready to change the language of your site. Be open to the idea of conforming your website to the language people use. Optimization is about including those words in the right areas of your pages (such as navigation, links, headings, meta tags and content) so the search engine sees all the right signals to understand what your site's pages should be ranked for.
5. Measurement
Rankings are not the only measure of success! For many years, SEO firms have measured everything on rankings. However, we recommend using analytics similar to a PPC (paid) search campaign for a more comprehensive measure of success.
[Forget Expensive PPC Advertising - There is an Alternative!]
Here is a simple description of how to do that: Take what you are spending on SEO and put it against traffic and conversions to work out cost per unique browser, cost per click and cost per conversion. It's best to analyze these over a period of six and/or twelve months to allow for any changes in SEO to come into effect. This is because the major difference between SEO and PPC is the implementation time - for SEO, the results will take months, rather than days.
6. Moving Variables
There are so many moving variables in SEO that it would be impossible to find one person who knows everything! But a good SEO consultant is worth their weight in gold. Their value is not necessarily in the implementation, but in tapping into their experience to find the right implementation. One tiny piece of advice from them which may take 10 minutes to explain could be worth more than a copywriter producing numerous articles for your site each month.
7. One Agency or Two?
Some agencies have two separate teams working on SEO and PPC. Some marketers choose two completely different agencies to handle their SEO and PPC campaigns.
However, the two are very closely related and the results from one can be useful to the other. For instance, the keyword data from your PPC campaign can help with your SEO keyword research. On the flip side, optimizing pages for SEO will usually provide your PPC campaigns with a better quality score. When PPC and SEO listings are seen together on a search engine, they usually improve the click-through and conversion rates for both campaigns.
They go hand in hand, and each can have a positive effect on the other if done well. And with one agency on both campaigns, they will have a greater depth of experience with your business, which can only help you to succeed.
8. Web Developers are not SEO Experts
Finally, a word on expertise. Most web developers say they are experts in SEO. There is no doubting that many of them do a reasonable job, but they are not truly specialists in the area of SEO.
In the same way, I wouldn't recommend that an SEO specialist designs your website. They are specialist skills, which both contribute to the success of your business.
9. Use of Java Script
Those pesky robots that the major search engines rely on to rank web pages have until recently imposed some limitations for web development. While useful code such as Java Script can make your website really functional - a simple example is a loan calculator, and many websites' navigation and links - and thus attractive to users, the robots often couldn't follow the code properly, and thus skipped over it. The major problem was that commonly, web developers didn't know that Java Script wasn't being read or followed by the robots.
That has changed recently, with Google updating its technology so that the robots can read and follow Java Script. When the robots can follow a website's navigation and links properly, the SEO rankings are greatly influenced.
10. Flash
Potentially any Flash file can now be indexed, according to Google, but it still depends on how that Flash site is constructed. Generally older Flash sites are not seen in the most effective way by the search engines, though it depends on the practices of the Flash developer. Many older Flash sites have overcome this problem by building an underlying version of the site in html - though this method too has its drawbacks.
Flash sites need to be built like html sites, with multiple files that optimize each keyword. If you are building a new Flash site, be sure to consult with an SEO expert before the developer starts on the build.
Maybe you've crossed your mind, what's going on in the browser when a website or webpage does not respond quickly as desired visitors. Especially on a website that has many advanced applications.
But until now, it seems difficult for developers to identify problems in the slow-to-respond applications. So, tonight at the Google Campfire One, they will be happy to announce that they will add a new tool for Google Web Toolkit is called Speed Tracer.
Speed Tracer is a Google Chrome extension that enables developers to identify performance problems in their web apps using a "Sluggishness Graph," in combination with many other metrics. In the spirit of clean, simple design, developers need only look at the Y-Axis of their application's Sluggishness Graph to see how they're doing:
* If the y-axis is close to zero, then the app is fast
* If the y-axis registers around 100%, then the app is, well, sluggish
And in either case, Speed Tracer provides lots of additional data to help diagnose any particular performance issue.
They think developers will find that Speed Tracer looks under the covers of web applications like never before. In fact, they even used Speed Tracer to optimize the performance of Speed Tracer itself! (It's really an HTML5 application after all, built with Google Web Toolkit, and deployed as a Google Chrome extension.) If you're a web developer, download and install Speed Tracer on the Google Chrome Developer Channel.
This is one of many other improvements in GWT 2.0 — which they released at this evening's Campfire — that make building web applications fast, and the applications you build run even faster. Check out the Google Code Blog for more information and to watch our Campfire One developer announcement.
If you're ready to replace, sell, or retire your old computer, it's very important to eradicate personal data stored on its hard drive before unplugging it for the last time.
You should always remember that even though you manually delete computer files, an identity thief might still be able to recover them, possibly putting you or your family at risk.
Files you should remove before you donate or sell your computer:
E-mail contacts
messages
All documents
All files in the operating system recycle bin or trash folder
Internet files
All non-transferable software (most software is transferable if you have the original disks and product key)
Options for removing files from your computer:
Remove the files yourself at home using disk-cleaning software. On Windows 7 and Windows Vista you can clean up files with Disk Cleanup. If you have any sensitive files on your computer, you can also use a third-party application. To find software that works with your version of Windows, visit Bing and search for "file shredder" or "secure file deletion."
Call the computer manufacturer's technical services department and ask how to delete personal files (your computer might need to be under warranty for this service).
Take your hard drive to a local reputable computer supplier to have them safely overwrite your files.
Once you've cleaned the personal data from your old computer (and you don't plan to or are unable to sell it), what should you do with it? Consider donating or recycling.
Donate
If your unwanted computer still works, donating it is probably the best way to go, and doing so will help keep toxins such as lead, mercury, and other electronic byproducts out of the environment.
Each computer dumped in a landfill is a missed opportunity to provide a computer for others to use through a nonprofit or school-based refurbisher.
In addition, depending on the current market value of your donated computer, you might be able to deduct its value from your taxes (refer to current federal and local tax laws for more information).
Following I will only share a few tips or tricks about Protect your computer. especially for those of you who bought a new computer, this may be very useful.
Keep your firewall turned on.
A firewall helps protect your computer from hackers who might try to delete information, crash your computer, or even steal your passwords or credit card numbers.
Keep all your software and your operating system up-to-dat
High priority updates are critical to the security and reliability of your computer. They offer the latest protection against malicious online activities. Microsoft provides new updates, as necessary, on the second Tuesday of the month.
Keep your antivirus software up to date
Viruses and spyware are two kinds of malicious software that you need to protect your computer from. You need antivirus technology to help prevent viruses, and you need to keep it regularly updated. Microsoft Security Essentials is a no-cost download for Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.
Keep your antispyware technology up to date
iruses and spyware are two kinds of malicious software that you need to protect your computer from. You need antispyware technology to help prevent spyware, and you need to keep it regularly updated. Search is a natural starting point for discovering the world's information, and we strive to bring you the freshest, most comprehensive and relevant search results over an ever expanding universe of content on the multitude of devices you use to access it.
That's why today, at the Computer History Museum, we're excited to share a few new innovations in the areas of real-time, mobile and social search that we feel are important steps in the evolution of information access.
First, we're introducing new features that bring your search results to life with a dynamic stream of real-time content from across the web. Now, immediately after conducting a search, you can see live updates from people on popular sites like Twitter and FriendFeed, as well as headlines from news and blog posts published just seconds before. When they are relevant, we'll rank these latest results to show the freshest information right on the search results page.
Try searching for your favorite TV show, sporting event or the latest development on a recent government bill. Whether it's an eyewitness tweet, a breaking news story or a fresh blog post, you can find it on Google right after it's published on the web.
Here's how it looks:
Our real-time search enables you to discover breaking news the moment it's happening, even if it's not the popular news of the day, and even if you didn't know about it beforehand. For example, in the screen shot, the big story was about GM's stabilizing car sales, which shows under "News results." Nonetheless, thanks to our powerful real-time algorithms, the "Latest results" feature surfaces another important story breaking just seconds before: GM's CEO stepped down.
Click on "Latest results" or select "Latest" from the search options menu to view a full page of live tweets, blogs, news and other web content scrolling right on Google. You can also filter your results to see only "Updates" from micro-blogs like Twitter, FriendFeed, Jaiku and others. Latest results and the new search options are also designed for iPhone and Android devices when you need them on the go, be it a quick glance at changing information like ski conditions or opening night chatter about a new movie — right when you're in line to buy tickets.
And, as part of our launch of real-time on Google search, we've added "hot topics" to Google Trends to show the most common topics people are publishing to the web in real-time. With this improvement and a series of other interface enhancements, Google Trends is graduating from Labs.
Our real-time search features are based on more than a dozen new search technologies that enable us to monitor more than a billion documents and process hundreds of millions of real-time changes each day. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our new partners that we're announcing today: Facebook, MySpace, FriendFeed, Jaiku and Identi.ca — along with Twitter, which we announced a few weeks ago.
The new features will be rolling out in the next few days and will be available globally in English. You can try them out today by visiting Google Trends and clicking on a "hot topic," which in most cases will bring you to a search results page with the new real-time feature.
We have also made some new strides with mobile search. Today's sensor-rich smartphones are redefining what "query" means. Beyond text, you can now search by a number of new modes including voice, location and sight — all from a mobile device. So we've been working to improve technology that takes advantage of these capabilities.
Starting today, we're extending our voice search capabilities on Android devices to recognize Japanese. In addition, we're using the location of your mobile phone to launch some helpful features, like showing you "what's nearby." Finally, at our event this morning, we demonstrated Google Goggles, a visual search application that lets you search for objects using images rather than words, using your camera phone. For more information on these mobile innovations, check out the Google Mobile Blog.
As we've written before, search is still an unsolved problem and we're committed to making it faster and easier for people to access a greater diversity of information, delivered in real-time, from across the web. I'm tremendously excited about these significant new real-time search features.
